- Do I get
an email ID when I register an account with Tata Indicom Broadband?
Yes, you will get one complimentary email ID with a 50 MB mail
storage space. You can purchase additional mail Ids.

What
all does Tata Indicom Mail offer?
Tata Indicom Mail is a full-featured, webmail that lets you
compose, send, receive, and manage email, including multimedia
messages, from a browser. You can also create and edit a list
of stored personal email addresses for regular recipients of
your email. There are various filters which enable you to manage
your emails better.

How do
I configure my Email Settings?
Once you have registered with Tata Indicom Broadband, you get
an e-mail account. To use this mail account, you can configure
an e-mail client on your machine. Your e-mail account address
will be myself@vsnl.net ( in case of prepaid ) and myself@eth.net
( in case of postpaid) , where myself is the User Name you create
on registering with Tata Indicom.
You can configure the following mail clients for your Tata Indicom
e-mail account.
- Microsoft Outlook Express 4.0 (or) above
- Microsoft Outlook 97
- Netscape Messenger
- Eudora 5
For Pre-paid, The server settings for POP and SMTP are:
- POP3 (Incoming) Server Name: mail.vsnl.net
- SMTP (Outgoing) Server Name: smtp.vsnl.net
For Post-paid, The server settings for POP and SMTP are:
- POP3 (Incoming) Server Name: mail.eth.net
- SMTP (Outgoing) Server Name: smtp.eth.net
You can also access your Tata Indicom mail account from anywhere
in the world by logging onto webmail.vsnl.com

What
is the maximum Size of a file that I can attach while sending
E-mail?
You can have a total attachment of maximum 2 MB size while sending
a mail. Please note that while sending an email attachment of
say 2MB size to 10 email Ids, the data sent by you will be calculated
as 10 * 2 = 20 MB.

What
are the charges for getting additional E-mail Ids and additional
e-mail space?
If you need additional E-mail Ids you will be charged Rs 200 per annum for 1 additional email id. All additional e-mails Ids that you avail shall also have a 50 MB mail box space.
If you are a Pre-paid customer, you can use the value in your existing account to pay for the charges for these services.
In the case of Post Paid, you will need to submit the Additional Services form , duly filled along with the charges. You can download the Additional Services form here.
You can purchase up-to a maximum of 70 MB additional mail space, over and above the free limit.

How do
I change my password?
Login to the My Account section on www.tataindicombroadband.com
and. You will get a Change Password option. Click on this option
and then change your password.
We recommend that you change your password frequently to minimize
possible misuse of the account.

How do
I configure additional mail ids ?
For prepaid customers
Log on to the My Account section on www.tataindicombroadband.in and
into the My Services section.
For postpaid customers
For availing additional E-mail Ids, you will need to fill in
the Request Form for the same and pay for the additional e-mail
id charge of Rs 200 p.a per email id. After the same is received
by us, we shall call you to confirm the same and you can then
configure the same on www.tataindicombroadband.in in the My
Account section. Click on "Register paid E-mail Id" in the My
Services section submit the additional e-mail Id option that
you wish to create.

My broadband
account has expired. Will my Email ID and stored mails get deleted?
The email service comes along with as part of Tata Indicom
Broadband. If your primary internet access account expires,
you lose your email access and thus your emails are deleted.
To continue using the Tata Indicom Mail Service, renew you account.
You will not be able even access your email account if your
primary account is not active.

Can I
change my Email Password?
The internet access password is the default email password.
You can change the internet access password to change your email
password.
What should I do if I forget my password?
For Prepaid customers
- Please logon to www.tataindicombroadband.in
- Click on Forgot Password
- You will be asked to enter your Username
- You will have to enter your secret question and answer
- Post verification, you will be able to reset your password.
For Postpaid customers
Please call customer service in your city and they will
reset your password. You can then logon to www.tataindicombroadband.in and change your password.

SMS Alerts
- What is an SMS Mail alert?
SMS mail alert is an SMS you receive on your mobile as soon as an email reaches your mail Inbox. This SMS informs you of the email sender and the subject of the email.
- Who can use SMS Mail alert?
If you are a registered pre-paid or post-paid customer of VSNL’s internet services and have a mobile service provider in India, you would be able to get SMS Mail alerts through all operators except MTNL’s Garuda service

I want to receive SMS Mail alerts only from certain email senders. Is it possible?
Yes. If you do not want to receive SMS Mail alerts for every email that comes to your inbox, you can select the senders email addresses for which you require SMS Mail alerts.
- What are the charges for getting SMS Mail alerts?
Your VSNL account will be charged Re 1 for every SMS Mail alert that you get on your mobile. You will be charged only as long as you want SMS Mail alerts.
- How do I unsubscribe from this service?
To stop receiving SMS alerts, login to your e-mail account and click on the SMS alerts link on the option menu to change your preferences, or click on SMS alerts and click the ‘Manage my alerts’ option to change or delete your settings.
Follow the same process to renew getting SMS alerts.
Additional Mail ID
- What is an additional mail ID?
An additional mail ID is an extra mail box over your existing user ID
- What are the charges for it?
You will be charged Rs 250 per annum for the period of one year from the date of requesting an additional mail ID. You can alternatively choose to set this charge on auto renewal to enjoy disrupted services, you will be sent a notification before and after deduction of charges or choose to disable auto-renewal at any point if you wish to discontinue your this service. You will be reminded about your e-mail expiry or renewal in either case! Please note that this ID will allow access only to e-mail and not internet.
Additional Mail Space
- What is additional mail space?
For as low as Rs.10/- per month per MB, you can increase your mailbox size by another 75 MB! You will never have to delete your messages again.

- What are it’s charges?
You will be charged Rs 10 per Mb per month, the amount will be deducted on a pro rata basis from your initial request. And from the next billing cycle the amount will be deducted monthly, you will be informed by e-mail towards your monthly charges.
- How do I go back to my original mail space?
Simply add 0 Mb to the ‘additional mail space field and click the apply. This will restore your mail space settings to normal. The amount deducted towards additional mail space will not apply next month onwards.
